Our base is Concarneau and we’ll be staying at the ever-popular Hotel de l’Océan on the Plage des Sables Blancs. This fishing port and resort has been pleasing our clients for years and its attraction never fades. In the town itself, the main feature is the old walled town and the location of our hotel is perfect, just metres away from a sandy beach and a nice stroll along the promenade to the town centre. At the hotel there is a covered outdoor swimming pool , Jacuzzi and fitness suite for your added pleasure. There’s also a lift at the hotel.

We pick up as indicated below and drive to Plymouth where we catch the 1500 sailing to France.
On arrival at Roscoff around 2100 we then drive southwards over the Monts d’Arrées to the Hotel de l’Océan on the bay at Concarneau. We stay for five nights. A substantial buffet breakfast starts your day and in the evening there’s dinner in the hotel’s attractive restaurant which looks out on to the Bay. The hotel enjoys a fine local reputation for its cuisine and has pleased our clients for many years. However, as we arrive late on the first day no dinner will be provided and no doubt you will eat on board the ferry.
On Sunday morning we visit Quimper, the ancient capital of Cornouaille. We’ll park in the centre of the town and all the interesting areas will be close at hand. On our way back to the hotel we’ll call in at a local Cider maker for a presentation and tasting. We now drive to the coast to Bénodet for a stroll along the promenade then back to Concarneau.
On Monday morning we’ll have a free morning in Concarneau. In the afternoon we make the short drive to Pont Aven, a well known artists’ town made famous by Gaugin. This very picturesque spot attracts visitors from all over Europe and is an dieal place to pick up a painting if that’s your interest.
On Tuesday morning we’ll be heading in the opposite direction to Ste Anne d’Auray, the outstanding Breton pilgrimage destination.At the Basilica you’ll observe the Scala Sancta, a double staircase which pilgrims ascend on their knees. We continue to Vannes, a pleasant town with a cathedral and ramparts and many half-timbered houses in its Old Quarter.
On Wednesday we head north to visit Audierne, an attractive fishing port and resort. We now continue to the most westerly point of France, La Pointe du Raz, known in Breton as Penn Ar Bed or Land’s End. Here you’ll enjoy spectacular views and breezes overlooking the Atlantic. In the afternoon we make our way past Douarnenez to the restored medieval village of Locronan, one of France’s major heritage sites.
We leave the hotel after breakfast on Thursday and drive to Morlaix for a visit to the Hypermarket. Finally it’s off to Roscoff stopping at Red Cash Wine and Beer Warehouse en route. We catch the 1630 sailing to England. We reach Plymouth around 2130 and after disembarkation, the coach returns to the original pick up points.
The overall theme of this holiday is a relaxing break in pleasant surroundings, good food and wine, interesting but non-taxing excursions and a glimpse of life in the slow lane!
