5 days Paris

Thirty odd years ago we used to have a Paris trip almost every other week and the basic cost was the princely sum of £19 and that included a bottle of whisky or gin!! The appeal of the City of Light never slackened in all that time and in recent years we have kept our hand in by operating private tours only. We thought it was time to bring the pleasures of this great city to the attention of a new generation.
We intend to do the tour a little differently from other Operators and would urge you to read the format very carefully in order to appreciate our concept of a Paris tour. If you compare it with the alternatives you’ll find our take on it a little refreshing. The whole point is to spend less time on our crowded roads and to get more France for your money.
We set off as indicated and drive to Plymouth where we catch the 2200 sailing to Roscoff. A cabin is provided for the overnight crossing.
We arrive in France next morning at 0800 and after disembarkation we drive eastwards to Morlaix where we join the motorway. This road takes us past St Brieuc, Rennes, and Le Mans to Chartres where we will stop for some sightseeing and a chance to stretch your legs. We now resume the final leg of the drive into Paris and check in to our central hotel for three nights with buffet breakfast each day.
On Saturday we will take you on a gentle tour of the city which will enable you to orientate yourself in respect of your surroundings. The drive will take in the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysées, The Place de la Concorde, the Madeleine, Opera, Place Veendome, Rue Royale, the Tuileries, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Left Bank and finally Notre Dame. We’ll return to the hotel in late afternoon.
This evening we head back into the centre for dinner at a typical bistro on the Left Bank.
Sunday is entirely free for you to do your own thing! There is so much to do and see in Paris that your main problem will be to cram it all in. Just a few suggestions here – the Louvre, the Quai d’Orsay Museum, a cruise on the river but if that is too constrictive take the waterbus and just jump on and off whenever you please. Shopping on the Champs Elysées may be a bit rich for most people but Galeries Lafayette near the city hall will provide bargains for all. Montmartre is always worth a visit for the atmosphere and above it there’s a climb to the Sacré Coeur and its wonderful panoramic views of the city.
In October you could spend the day at the races watching the richest race in Europe, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamps. The coach will drop those interested in attending at the course.
Of course, we needn’t remind you that Disneyland Paris is just outside the city and you may wish to spend the day here. Rail connections to the site are plentiful and quite inexpensive. Versailles is within easy reach if you like royal splendour and impressive gardens. In fact, Paris is your oyster, take this opportunity to make the most of your time here.
We make an early start on Monday morning and return by the same route to Roscoff where we catch the 1500 ferry to England. This reaches Plymouth at 2030 and after disembarkation the coach returns to the original pick up points.

The cost includes; travel by executive coach; ferry crossing with overnight cabin ; three nights’ B & B accommodation in 2* central hotel; one dinner with wine; city tour.
