Another new destination for supporters of the Panama Jazz Band to embrace. Lively Ostend has always been a winner with our clientele and bringing our own entertainment is a bonus. Some leisurely excursions will keep you occupied during the day and a stroll along the prom before dinner will set you up for the evening.
We set off on the first day and travel to Folkestone to catch a mid-afternoon train to Calais. On arrival in France we then head eastwards into Belgium and thus to Ostend and the Hotel Royal Astor situated at the back of the promenade and central to all the facilities. It has a swimming pool and we’ll be staying for four nights with buffet breakfast and dinner with wine.
Next day is free for you to immerse yourself in Ostend. Take a stroll along the harbourside with the many stalls selling fresh seafood and other delights. Take a tram along the coast to Knokke-le-Zoute or Blankenberge. You’ll fill the day easily enough! After dinner the Band plays.
On Wednesday we’re driving to one of the most charming cities of Europe, Bruges. We’ll spend the day here. Back at the hotel the Band will play after dinner.
On Thursday we will pay our respects to the gallant soldiers of the First World War by visiting some of the famous battlefields such as Poperinghe, Paschendaele etc etc and will stop in Ypres.
After dinner the Band does its stuff once again.
We leave on Friday and begin our drive back to Calais. En route we will stop at the Hypermarket outside the Eurotunnel before continuing to board the train for England. We reach Folkestone in the later afternoon and return to the West.
