Costa Brava Cruise Drive Estartit
– Sun, sea, sand and a minicruise 12 days
The one thing the Costa Brava can guarantee is abundant sunshine, warm Mediterranean waters and a highly developed tourist infrastructure. As one of the original holiday destinations that drew Britons to the area many years ago it has kept pace with current trends and still offers great value for money. We'll be based at the Hotel Medes II at Estartit which we have been associated with since the early 70's. The hotel has been completely modernised over the years and still offers the same warm welcome from the Coll family which so many of our clients have enjoyed over the years.
Sunday - We set off and drive to Plymouth where we catch the 1530 sailing on Brittany Ferries' flagship "Pont Aven". This well appointed ship is very much part of your holiday and during the crossing you are invited to enjoy its amenities which include swimming pool, cinemas, shops and live entertainment. Breakfast and dinner in the award-winning Le Flora restaurant is included . A 2-berth cabin is provided but upgrades are available.
We reach Santander around 1200 on the second day. After disembarkation we then drive southwards to Rioja and thus to Zaragoza where we spend the first night. We continue on the third day heading southwards and into Catalonia for the final leg of the ride to Estartit and the Hotel Las Medes II where we check in for the next seven nights. During our stay at the 2* hotel, full board will be laid on. All rooms have private facilities and there's a swimming pool in the gardens for your pleasure. The beach is about 200 metres distant.
During the holiday we will make the following excursions:
Morning visit to the medieval village of Pals: All day visit to Barcelona
Boat ride along the coast and visit to Cadaques: Visit and tasting at a wine maker at La Vinyeta
We start the homeward drive on the tenth day and head back through Aragon and then into Navarra. We now reach the smallest Province in Spain, La Rioja, where the wine and potatoes thrive, and this will be our final overnight stay in Spain in the capital, Logroño, where we have dinner and accommodation in the city centre.
On Wednesday we continue our drive to the coast past Bilbao to Santander where we have time for extended sightseeing and a visit to the Hypermarket. No dinner is provided tonight so you'll have plenty of opportunity to try out the local restaurants near the Ferryport. We catch the 2100 sailing to England.
Next day, breakfast and lunch are included as we sail homewards.
Enjoy the minicruise and we reach Plymouth at 1600 on the twelfth day and after disembarkation the coach returns to the original pick up points.
Included in the cost: all travel by executive coach; both ferry crossings with 2-berth cabin (and two breakfasts and one dinner and one lunch); 2 nights' en route accommodation with breakfast and dinner; seven nights' accommodation with full board at Estartit; excursions as described. Details of cabin upgrades can be viewed under Information – the Santander sailing
