Brittany Express 3 Days

Our long running Brittany Express gives travellers a chance to escape abroad for the weekend, see a different lifestyle, enjoy French hospitality and bring back some vital necessities such as sensibly priced wine and beer, amongst other things. The format for our trips is the same, only the ultimate destination differs. Some sightseeing, some shopping, some refreshment, a visit to a Hypermarket and time for some French cuisine. We offer two different destinations.

We sail from Plymouth on Fridays at 2300(2200 in Winter) arriving in Roscoff at either 0700 or 0800. We then spend the day in Brittany doing some sightseeing, shopping, enjoying local cuisine and refreshment and returning to Roscoff on Saturday to catch the ferry sailing at 2330 (2200 in Winter) (These timings are subject to possible change). The ship arrives at Plymouth on Sunday morning at 0700 or 0800. Included in the cost of the trip is travel by executive coach to and from the pick up points listed below; the all day excursion detailed; a return cabin berth . Note that Brittany Ferries’ brand new ship, the “Armorique” joins the fleet in February.

Finistere Express

When we land in France on Saturday morning we travel the short distance to the maintown of the region, Morlaix. There is an excellent market taking place in the centre every Saturday and you’ll have plenty of time to mingle with the locals and enjoy the atmosphere of a rural French market day.
It’s an easy stroll from the coach parking to the main square where all the stalls are set up and you’ll be offered various samples of local produce as you meander around. Around midday we drive to the outskirts of the town to visit the Hypermarket where there are also plenty of refreshment outlets. In the early afternoon we leave the town and drive the short distance to the coast and stop for a while in the little resort of Carantec where you can stroll along the promenade or take some refreshment at one of the small cafés before we set off for St Pol de Léon. Here we visit the Red Cash Wine & Beer Warehouse and then park in the centre of the town for the rest of the evening. There are several of bars and restaurants seeking your patronage but to end your day in France we include dinner with wine at a restaurant in St Pol.
Finally we drive to Roscoff to catch the overnight sailing to England arriving early next day.

South Brittany Express

After landing in France we head south through the outskirts of Morlaix and then over the Monts d’Arrées in the Armoric National Park to the ancient capital of Cornouaille, Quimper which lies in a valley at the junction of the rivers Steir and Odet. This town above all others in the Province captures the essence of Brittany. In addition to its importance as the main commercial hub of the area it is also famous for its pottery and you’ll find many shops in its cobbled streets selling colourful examples of this art. Just off the main square is the covered market which is usually supplemented by some outdoor stalls at weekends. The impressive cathedral of St Corentin lies between the main square and the river just off the Old Quarter. We spend the morning here and give you the chance to have lunch in one of the many cafes and restaurants in the town centre.
At 1230 we leave Quimper and drive to the outskirts to visit the Hypermarket. Here there are several shops, bars, sandwich shops and an excellent “value for money” restaurant. We now head southwards to the fishing port and resort of Concarneau. This pleasant town with its historic walled city has much to offer the visitor and we’re sure you’ll find plenty to occupy your time here. It is one of the largest fishing ports in France. Start your visit in the walled town then stroll back along the promenade facing the bay.In the early evening we travel to St Pol de Léon and then spend the rest of the evening in this pleasant little town.. There are lots of bars and restaurants seeking your patronage but to end your day in France we include dinner with wine in a restaurant just off the town centre. Finally we drive to Roscoff to catch the overnight sailing to Plymouth arriving early next day.
